The Windy City

We made it back - sorry about the long lapse in blogging!

We’ve been on a momentous journey up to Missouri (where Katrina is from), up to Indy (where I grew up) and we even spent a day up in Chicago (where we hope to live together after our time here in Abilene!)

Our day in Chicago was a great experience. As soon as we got to town, we realized just how much we take for granted not living within a major city’s limits. It was overwhelming adjusting to the new culture of Chicago. It took us almost an hour to get a one day pass to ride the “El” (the elevated subway). Once moving along the tracks, we found ourselves speeding along the Loop, and then uptown to see the coast of the Great Lake Michigan. It was stunning! While we took a picture or two for sight-seeing purposes, our main goal for the trip was to pray through the city, and view some of the major neighborhoods we are thinking about moving into.

We got back into our car after a delicious lunch in the Near South Side and pulled out a very detailed road map. It was the only thing that kept us from becoming totally lost! Katrina and I were both amazed at the integration of Chicago’s downtown neighborhoods. Rich and poor housing and ethnic diversity sprawled in every direction as we drove through some of South Chicago’s neighborhoods.

We can see ourselves living there. Now its up to God to open the doors.
