What is Micro?

The Micro Layer describes the most foundational of gatherings - containing two or three Christians. Synonymous words for describing Micro-Layer groups include: the friendship, the band of brothers and sisters, "where two or more are gathered", the partnership and/or the triad.

Why the Micro Course?

This course contains a toolbox for Christians who want to grow in relationship with one or two others and with the Lord. The Micro level can be described as one of the most critical units of the Christ-centered community, for the health (or lack thereof) of the Micro will greatly influence and translate into the larger Christian gatherings. Micro outlines a great place to start for newer groups, as well.

The Point

The Micro Layer course gives practical steps to better attend to one another's hearts and to move, collectively, into deeper friendship with one another and with God.

Who is GodGrown?

Godgrown is a collective centered on the Lord, providing resources in spiritual formation. Mark and Katrina Willis (the people behind Godgrown) live in Chicago -- the city of onions! -- and there participate in a multi-layered, organic church network. Like the layers of the onion, they started to observe the unique layers of church gathering – and the unique needs and realities that correspond to the scale of each layer. They are pleased to present this course, as they unpack nuances and unique observations specific to the Micro Layer.

Here is how it works:

You and your partner(s) independently log on from your computer - from the comfort of your own home, office or even a local coffee shop -- any time of the day that suits you. There are no scheduled meeting times and everything will be posted on the class blog. Note: There are activities that require daily thirty-minute check-ins with your partner (either face-to-face or over the phone). You will schedule these daily check-ins with your partner on your own time, as it suits your schedule. Lessons and exercises are posted on weekdays in PDF and in audio files (so you can download and listen to the session on your computer or mobile device, too.) All you need is a computer, a partner or two, and little bit of time!
